Policy & Procedure

I would like to reserve one of your passenger vans. What do I need to do?

Please see our van rental procedure page.

What are your tour van rental rates?

Our rates vary depending on the time of year, length of tour and your van size/trailer requirements. If you know this information, you can submit your info and get a quote from us easily.

How many people can ride in a van?

Our vans can seat a maximum of 12 to 15 people, however, it’s rare for most touring bands to squeeze that many people in a van, especially for longer tours. We recommend a max of 7-8 people in the 15-passenger vans and 5-6 people in the 12-passenger vans. Not only is this important for your comfort (and general well-being of everybody in your band), but is relevant to your safety as well.

Do you allow your vans to go to Canada/Mexico?

We do allow our vans into Canada, but not Mexico.

What is your cancellation policy?

The 30% reservation fee is non-refundable. If you need to cancel at any point before the rental period begins you are not responsible for the remaining balance, however once your rental period is in progress you are responsible for the full amount of the original rental.

How far ahead of time should I make a van rental reservation?

As soon as your tour plans start to take shape, contact us for a quote or to make a reservation. We usually book up at least 30 days in advance.

Do you rent to people who aren’t musicians?

Yes! Touring bands are our most common rental customer, but we’ll rent to anybody who needs a van and meets our rental requirements.

Is there a minimum number of rental days allowed?

Nope. We allow rentals as short as one day.

What is your breakdown and service policy?

Our full breakdown policy is available on our rental policies & procedures page.

I’m going on tour tomorrow and my other van fell through. Is it too late to get a Greenvan?

If we have a van we will accommodate a last minute emergency rental.

What kind of insurance do I need to rent a van?

Our insurance policy provides primary coverage on our vans and is included in the rental fee. However, all drivers must carry his or her own personal insurance covering bodily injury and property damage. See our policies page for more info.

If we’re not from the USA, can we still rent a van from you?

Yes. We deal with many international rental customers, however if you plan to drive the van yourself you’ll need to get a US insurance policy. We have a few great contacts that provide temporary non-owners insurance policies for international bands. Please contact us and we’ll send you to the appropriate agent. Alternatively, you can choose to hire a driver with a valid operator’s license and acceptable inurance.

How old do I have to be to rent a van?

All drivers must be 21 years old and up, however we can rent to you if you’re between 18 and 21 for an additional fee. No drivers under 18. Sorry kids.

Vans & Trailers

What make and model vans do you rent?

We rent Ford E350 12- and 15-Passenger vans. Our gas vans are all new model years (2009 and up) and our diesels are 2005 and up. Please see our vans page for more info.

Do you rent cargo vans too, or just passenger vans?

Just passenger vans, but you can remove the benches if you need more cargo space.

Do you offer one-way van rentals?

Yes. We can pickup or drop-off anywhere in the country. Please let us know if you require a one-way rental when you submit a quote request. One-way rentals must be arranged in advance.

What is the average fuel economy of your vans?

Your speed is the most important factor in calculating fuel economy. We’ve found that 62mph is the “sweet spot” on most of our vans. If you can keep your speed there, you’ll likely see about 16-18mpg in the gas vans, and over 20mpg in the diesels. If you’re towing a trailer, expect closer to 14mpg in the gas vans and 16-18mpg in the diesels, depending on the weight of the trailer.

How much equipment can I fit inside the van?

See our vans page for exact dimensions and some examples of a van loaded with gear.

What size trailers do you have?

We have 5x10, 6x10 and 6x12 trailers.

We have our own van; can we just rent a trailer?

Yes! Contact us directly for trailer rental rates.

Can I tow my own trailer?

Yes, but we charge you an additional towing fee of $10 per day ($20 per day if your trailer is 7x14 or larger).

Is there a limit to how long I can have the van?

Nope. You can rent it for as long as you want, just bring it back on time and pay for it.

Do your vans have air conditioning? What about heat?

Yes, all of our vans have working front and rear climate controlled a/c & heat.

Do your vans have TVs, DVD players or entertainment systems?

Nope.

If I’m renting a WVO or biodiesel van, where do I get the fuel?

If you’re touring in one of our WVO vans, here’s a full description of where to source fuel. If you’re touring in one of our diesel vans, here’s a list of biodiesel suppliers around the country.

Where can we pick up the vans?

See our locations page. Our main office is in Beverly, MA, and our west coast pickup location is in Huntington Beach, CA. We can also deliver vans directly to you as well as offer airport pickups.
